PURCHASING RINGTONES BY INTERNET

Posted on 03 June 2009 by phone ringtones

A great way to download ringtones for your cell phone is by internet. This method may seem complicated, but after you have done it once, it will be much easier the next time. If you do have problems, the website’s customer service, your cell-phone user manual or your cell-phone company can help.
When you go to a website to buy ringtones, it may show this method as using WAP. For those who wonder what those letters mean, WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol, and it allows cell-phone users to access the internet with their phones.
So you will be using the internet to download the ringtone to your cell phone if you use WAP. Just be aware that there are usually extra charges to use the internet on your phone, and you may need to contact your phone provider to get the internet service turned on so you can use it on your phone. Then make sure you have at least two or three bars of signal on your phone, or you won’t be able to connect to internet long enough to download your ringtone.
After you have taken the above steps, you’ll need to go the space on your cell phone where you can enter the internet address, also known as the URL, of the website from which you will purchase your ringtone. Then choose your ringtone and purchase it. You will be given step-by-step instructions on how to do this by the website. Make sure you save the ringtone in your Downloads folder on your phone so you will know where to find the ringtone when it is delivered.
When you locate the ringtone in your Downloads file on your phone, you can assign it to different phone numbers in your Address Book or Contact List.
Another way to get ringtones is by the USB method, which actually downloads the ringtone by internet to your computer instead of your phone. You’ll need a USB cable to transfer the ringtone from your computer to your cell phone; if you don’t have one and don’t want to pay for one, you can use e-mail and send the ringtone to your phone that way. If you send the ringtone by e-mail, your cell phone will still need access to the internet.
Again, you need to make sure you know what file you saved the ringtone to on your phone so you can find it. One great advantage of downloading ringtones to your computer is that you will never lose them if you lose your phone or upgrade to a new phone. They are on your computer forever—of course backing up your computer files is always a good practice, as well as backing up your cell-phone information.
So get those ringtones by internet and have some fun with them!

YOUR CELL PHONE IS MADE TO BE PERSONALIZED

Posted on 31 March 2009 by phone ringtones

One of the most enjoyable aspects of owning a cell phone is that it can be customized to reflect your personality in so many ways.  Indeed, just choosing a certain phone model expresses something about you. For example, choosing a basic black phone can indicate you are practical and prefer utility over aesthetics. Choosing a smart phone shows you are tech savvy, and a music phone expresses the fact that music plays a big part in your life.
Some phones have lights that flash in time to your ringtone, so your choice of ringtones is even more expressive with such a phone because of the way the ringtones cause the lights to flash. Your choice of ringtones is also a super-fun way to let your personality show, and there are enough ringtones out there that you are sure to be able to match your own unique style.
You can also get special wallpapers (pictures and graphics) to go on your phone’s “desktop” or main screen, and if your phone has two screens, you can customize them both to match your mood, your occupation, or your hobby.  You can also use pictures of a child, friend, or vacation spot—the possibilities are endless.  Wallpapers are available from your provider’s website, other websites, you can import pictures from your home computer to your phone, or you can use your favorite picture from your own cell phone photo gallery.
Just picking out a case or belt clip can add personality to your cell phone.  Depending on your phone model, you can also choose different skins of various colors that protect your phone as well as allowing you to change the color to match your outfit or your mood.  If you get a Bluetooth device for your phone, that choice can also express a facet of your personality because there are so many types available—some are quite elegant, others emphasize practicality.
So when you get a cell phone, customize it and let your personality shine through!

USING YOUR BLUETOOTH TO PURCHASE RINGTONES

Posted on 18 March 2009 by phone ringtones

Many of us now use a Bluetooth device for our cell phones, and another use for them is downloading ringtones. First you will need to choose and purchase a ringtone and make sure it is saved to the desktop of your computer. One great advantage of downloading ringtones to your computer is that they stay there forever, no matter how many times you upgrade to a new phone, so you can always put those ringtones onto a new phone without purchasing them again. Another advantage is that you don’t need to have internet service for your phone, only for your computer.

Before you attempt this procedure, you need to be familiar with your Bluetooth owner/operator manual and be able to get your cell phone to recognize your Bluetooth device. If you have problems with your Bluetooth, the best way to get help is to call the Bluetooth manufacturer.

Your next step will be to open the Bluetooth Manager on your cell phone and select “New”. Then you’ll need to go to “Connect” from the menu, and go to “Select Activesynch via Bluetooth”. You will be prompted by your cell phone to get your computer ready, and to go to the screen where you can Select a Device, which will be your home computer.

Your computer should then recognize your Bluetooth device, and you should be able to find the Activesynch icon in the Bluetooth shortcut tab in the Bluetooth Manager on your cell phone. Now you can transfer the ringtone file from your computer desktop to your phone—make sure you know what file you put the ringtone into on your phone so you can find it after it is transferred.

Once the file has been transferred to your phone, you can open the file and assign the ringtone to different phone numbers you have in your Address Book or Contact list.
This is a convenient method of getting ringtones on your cell phone without having to use the internet or text messaging on your phone. Even if both are blocked, you can use your Bluetooth device to transfer your ringtones from your computer to your phone. Now enjoy those ringtones!

PURCHASING RINGTONES FOR YOUR CELL PHONE BY TEXT MESSAGE

Posted on 11 March 2009 by phone ringtones

It is a simple process to download ringtones to your cell phone by text message. First, of course, you must decide what ringtones you want to purchase, how much you will pay, and from what website. You do not need to use your cell-phone company’s website to purchase ringtones—just make sure if you use a different website that your cell phone is listed as compatible with the website’s ringtones. You also need to make sure your text messaging is not blocked through your cell-phone provider, and you may be charged for the text message that delivers the ringtone to your phone.

You will be asked for your cell phone number so the website knows where the ringtone will be sent. To purchase by text message, also known as SMS—which stands for Short Message Service—choose your ringtone and it will be sent by text message to your phone. When the message appears, open it and follow the download instructions. Be sure you know where the message will be stored in your phone, such as the My Stuff or Music file. Then after it is downloaded, you can go to the file and assign the ringtone to any phone number listed in your phone’s Address Book or Contact list. You can assign the ringtone to more than one phone number, to all callers, or to only calls that show their phone number on caller ID.

You can also assign a special ringtone to numbers that have their caller ID blocked, or are listed as private numbers. If you assign a ringtone to just caller ID blocked numbers, then you know right away that the caller is blocking their caller ID, and can decide before you ever look at your phone whether you want to answer that call or not.

It can be tons of fun to be able to know who is calling by the ringtone; just a word of caution to be careful what you use for ringtones, because you never know who might be around when a ringtone sounds, but it can be a lot of fun to have unusual and unexpected ringtones just to see the reactions of people around you. So get some new ringtones, and enjoy!
