Many of us now use a Bluetooth device for our cell phones, and another use for them is downloading ringtones. First you will need to choose and purchase a ringtone and make sure it is saved to the desktop of your computer. One great advantage of downloading ringtones to your computer is that they stay there forever, no matter how many times you upgrade to a new phone, so you can always put those ringtones onto a new phone without purchasing them again. Another advantage is that you don’t need to have internet service for your phone, only for your computer.
Before you attempt this procedure, you need to be familiar with your Bluetooth owner/operator manual and be able to get your cell phone to recognize your Bluetooth device. If you have problems with your Bluetooth, the best way to get help is to call the Bluetooth manufacturer.
Your next step will be to open the Bluetooth Manager on your cell phone and select “New”. Then you’ll need to go to “Connect” from the menu, and go to “Select Activesynch via Bluetooth”. You will be prompted by your cell phone to get your computer ready, and to go to the screen where you can Select a Device, which will be your home computer.
Your computer should then recognize your Bluetooth device, and you should be able to find the Activesynch icon in the Bluetooth shortcut tab in the Bluetooth Manager on your cell phone. Now you can transfer the ringtone file from your computer desktop to your phone—make sure you know what file you put the ringtone into on your phone so you can find it after it is transferred.
Once the file has been transferred to your phone, you can open the file and assign the ringtone to different phone numbers you have in your Address Book or Contact list.
This is a convenient method of getting ringtones on your cell phone without having to use the internet or text messaging on your phone. Even if both are blocked, you can use your Bluetooth device to transfer your ringtones from your computer to your phone. Now enjoy those ringtones!
